Study to be Quiet This verse says, Study to be quiet and do your own business. It seems we are living in a day when the news media and everyone else wants to mind everyone else's business but their own. I cannot keep up with my own business, much less hundreds of others. It is so sad that across the land church members cause so much trouble by trying to find out what everyone else is doing. 1. Important Business: People are dying and going to Hell every second and it seems no one is interested in this business. Jesus said, "Occupy Till I Come". He left us in charge of His important business. In John 4, He said, "I must finish the business or the work that God sent me to do". What is more important than God's business? 2. Intercessory Business: This word means to go between. It means to pray for others and be a mediator for those that cannot or will not pray. If we, in this coming year, would study to be quiet and do our business, this would be a better place to live. I cannot figure out why people want to tend to everyone else's business when they cannot tend to their own. If we would only tell God when we want to gossip, it would make the country and the Church a much better place to live. 3. Instrument for Business: In 2012, I would like to be a better instrument for the business of God. Would you join me in studying how we can improve our church by studying to be quiet? When we hear that someone is having trouble of any kind, we do not need to add to their problems by talking about business that does not concern us. The devil likes to use us by doing business for him. Malice and envy, jealousy, strife, and of course, gossip. Would we sit down and study and see if we are more about our business and the business of God, or have we allowed the devil to control our lives this year? Study to be quiet and it will make our lives and the lives of others better. Preacher Jack |
